Density of Nicotine

DENSITY OF NICOTINE

CHOOSING THE RIGHT E-LIQUID STRENGTH

Choosing electronic cigarettes over tobacco cigarettes is an excellent alternative to smoke and carcinogens, and you're already on your way to improving your overall health and the health of those around you. As you sample our E-liquid  products, you'll discover which ones work best for you, and you'll be able to moderate them according to each situation.

One very common question about electronic cigarettes relates to which e-liquid nicotine strength is equivalent to a particular kind of tobacco cigarette that a person smokes. To better answer this question, it is best to understand how much nicotine is contained in the E-liquid you are inhaling.

The nicotine density listed for e-liquid is the number of milligrams of nicotine per milliliter in the e-liquid. That means that a 10ml bottle of 24 mg of nicotine e-liquid would have 240 mg of nicotine in it, or ( 24mg x 10ml ). Likewise, a 30ml bottle of 24 mg of e-liquid would have 720 mg of nicotine in it, or ( 24 mg x 30ml ). There are seven different strengths, or densities of nicotine inside e-liquid.

E-LIQUID NICOTINE DENSITY LEVELS

Non Nicotine: 0mg or 0% of nicotine, which equates to NO NICOTINE.

Low Density: 10 mg or 1% of nicotine, which equates to Ultra Light Strength Cigarettes.

Medium Density: 20 mg or 2% of nicotine, which equates to Medium Strength Cigarettes.

High 3 Density: 30mg or 3% of nicotine, which equates to Regular Strength Cigarettes.

High 4 Density: 40 mg or 4% of nicotine, which equates to Strong Cigarettes.

High 5 Density: 50 mg or 5% of nicotine, which equates to Very Strong Cigarettes.

High 6 Density: 60 mg or 6% of nicotine, which equates to Extra Strong Cigarettes.

E - Liquid Refills

It is also important to understand the refill process. When you refill your e-cartridges with e-liquid, you may need to know how much nicotine is contained in you're refilling e-liquid. There are about 20 drops of e-liquid per milliliter. Using our 24mg nicotine e-liquid once again as an example, there would be 1.2mg of nicotine per drop, or (24/20 drops). If you put three drops of e-liquid onto an e-cartridge or directly on to the atomizer for those that direct drip, that means you will be taking in 3.6mg of nicotine from the time you start gaping until you top off again.

Dry Tobacco vs E-liquid

Do you consider yourself a light smoker, either in terms of amount or that you enjoy a light cigarette? Or, are you a heavy, pack per day smoker. It is possible to make a general comparison between tobacco cigarette smoking and e-cigarette smoking, although there are variable factors. You must know what sort of a smoker you already are, the strength and mouth or throat feel of your smoking experience . Some trial and error will help you determine the density of e-liquid that you prefer, but there are some general guidelines.

Example Brand Nicotine
Ultra Light    Marlboro Ultra Light

0.5mg nicotine per cigarette, 10mg. per pack

Light Marlboro Light 0.7mg of nicotine per cigarette, 14 mg per pack
Regular Marlboro Red 1.2mg of nicotine per cigarette, 24mg per pack

The amount as well as the feeling of the nicotine absorbed by the body from electronic cigarette smoking depends on many factors, including the density of the nicotine in the e-liquid, the electronic cigarette vaping quantity, the smoking frequency and timing, and the smoking inhalation respiration. Actually, the nicotine in the e-liquid cannot be absorbed completely by the smoker. For instance, if you inhale 1 ml of e-liquid which contains 24 mg of nicotine, that does not mean that you absorb all 24 mg of nicotine. You may only absorb about 40-65% of the nicotine according to your personal smoking habits.

It should be noted that although it is highly addictive, no studies have shown nicotine to be a carcinogen. It is recommended that whose who have demonstrated nicotine sensitivity, are pregnant or breastfeeding, or have unstable heart conditions, should discuss the use of any e-liquid with a doctor before using.
